To discover the real spiritual meaning of the autumn equinox, we will explore the first ever traces of its celebration in the world’s ancient sacred sites.

Descending passages into subterranean pits, lit by the star of Satan at midnight. Feathered serpents of light descending giant pyramids. A giant pyramid aligned to the equinoxes built on a cave symbolizing the underworld. Seven giant statues facing the sunset that leads to growing darkness. What were these ancient sites, many of which align with each other, trying to tell us about the autumn equinox?

  1. Amazing that so many sites exist around the world – shows that the ancients were way more in tune with these cosmic forces than we are today.

Looking forward to the other posts!

  2. So many marvels exist in the ancient world, and it is amazing how little they are understood today. Nonetheless I enjoy watching documentaries about these places as it is very inspiring to get a visual tour of ancient monuments and to hear what few facts science has uncovered.

We’re very fortunate to have a chance to explore the esoteric side of these monuments now and hopefully to better understand the messages that lie hidden in creation.

  3. Amazing!

The Spring Equinox (for us in Australia) is coming up, and we are so looking forward celebrating it internally and externally.

Thank you for the great post, and looking forward the ones to follow.

  4. This is a great overview of these amazing mystical places. I especially liked seeing some of the pictures – that feathered serpent in particular is awesome and inspiring.

Looking forward to celebrating the Equinox here soon.

  5. So inspiring on so many levels! I have always been interested in these places and have been to Chichen Itza. Seeing these places and actually being there inspires such a deep wonder, of what the deeper meaning was behind their creation was.

It’s so awesome that we are being given the opportunity to explore, celebrate, and experience the eternal spiritual side of these cosmic times of the year. It’s like we get a glimpse and get connected into that pulse of existence -the eternal teaching of life that has existed throughout time that the people that built these places were in tune with and had deeper knowledge about. I totally felt that with the Summer Solstice and I got so much internally from working to celebrate and experience that time, so I’m really looking forward to digging in and exploring the Autumn Equinox.

Thanks for the post and I will definitely stay tuned for more!

  6. Very interesting article. It is very rewarding to continue to be education and informed about so much tradition in these ancient sites all around the world.

When I was around 14 years old I visited Easter Island on my way back from Chile, where I was born. I remember standing by these same moais depicted here. They are enormous and really make a statement, I never would have thought that there existence was related to the equinoxes. Thanks very much and I look forward to learning about the next traditions and celebrations.

  7. Growing up in Mexico I often visited pyramids and other archeological sites, and they always made me wonder about how was everyday life in those places? why did they build them? what for? In school they also taught us all about the different pre-hispanic cultures that existed, but I never thought of it as something so deep and spiritually meaningful.
I’m also looking forward to the equinox celebrations to explore more about the hidden meaning. Thanks for this great opportunity!

  8. Thanks for another great article.

I’m looking forward to the opportunity to learn more about these events and to experience more of the power they contain. I got so much out of the last equinox celebration. Like others I’ve also been drawn to these sacred sites ever since I can remember and been filled with wonder by them.

I look forward to the upcoming posts!

  9. Wow. I felt this special kind of excitement reading about all of this. What mysteries! It is true that we are so fortunate to get the chance to explore all of this in it’s original and esoteric form. Really looking forward to this, and thank you for such a great and inspiring article!

    • Thanks for all this information. I am wondering now why I found myself at the same sacred site, at the Spring Equinox day, two years in a row. and I did not even know what date it was. This truly inspired me to dig deeper.

  10. I think this list covered most of my favourite places in the world :-) These sacred places have always been a large inspiration to me. Exploring these mysteries further & celebrating the equinox with you all is sounding more all the more special after reading this.

  11. Thank you so much for the information and the chance to explore further the meaning of the Autumn Equinox! Looking forward for the other posts too.

  12. Thanks so much for sharing this, these places are so interesting! New scientific discoveries about these buildings are still being made all the time. These places al hint to something far greater, to incredible knowledge.
I’m also looking forward to more posts and I’ll defnitely be researching, looking at pictures, videos etc. of these awesome places.

  13. Thank you for posting all this information! These sacred places of the world seem to really contain message of a great importance!.

It is so interesting how special and different all those sacred dates feel, be it Equinox, Halloween, Christmas etc. Looking forward to explore the mysteires of this Equinox together with everyone!

  14. Great blog. Its wonderful to have the esoteric meanings behind these amazing and mysterious ancient monuments and astrological events unveiled so clearly.

Spring just began recently here, and I can really feel a kind change in the air, and I’m looking forward to the spring equinox. It brings an new perspective and strength to the inner spiritual work to tune into these wider cosmic events which are happening, which reverberate with the esoteric work we are trying to do.

  15. Thanks so much for this. Ive felt alot that there is meaning in the movements of the world around us, and have seen that my lifes events are impacted by them, that they seem to echo or mirror nature. I am gladly receiving these insights into the deeper meaning of this, especially the guidance in creating a ceremony to mark the events. May everyone be moved and inspired : – )

  16. Thanks for this article. I really like this unconventional approach to events like Equinox. Having participated in a ritual about the Summer Solstice I really look forward to the Equinox one. It feels very spiritual.

It’s amazing that in the past there have been so many esotericists that were looking for what we are searching as well now. It is definitely fascinating and it seems that this quest connects us through time.

  17. There has always been something mystical and inspiring to me about the Light Bringer. Thanks for the reminder about its place in the work!

Looking forward to the celebrations for the equinoxes!

  18. Its a very interesting article. Its amazing to think of pre-history civilisations which had advanced technology and a greater understanding of the esoteric path than the modern day so called “civilisations”. Its inspiring to think that societies which existed so long ago have built wonderful monuments aligned with deep esoteric principles as a help to future generations. Here we are now thousands of years into their future looking upon what they have left behind to help us reach to a higher understanding. Imagine being part of such a civilisation with its centre of gravity so focused on the esoteric path that it works to build such monuments to help mankind for many thousands of years to come. Incredible! Thanks for explaining the symbolism behind these monuments.

    • I was thinking the same thing David, about these people who lived such a long time ago and had such tremendous technology to build and create what they did. It really is amazing.

I find it interesting because their message really does come through, even if we don’t know all of the details about why a place was built or its true purpose, these spiritual sites still exert a sort of pull on your consciousness. It’s like you can feel that magical/ mysterious aspect to them, even if you can’t explain it.

  19. Great thank you for this article! It is so inspiring and I like very much that this article adds more info about ancient civilazions which left to us their meanings and secrets in order to explore them and learn from them. Great approach for the esoteric meaning of the upcoming Autumn Equinox!

    Thank you

  20. Great, I learned some new things. I don’t understand that part about the pyramids being eight sided on the Equinox when you look at it from the air. That doesn’t make sense to me, neither does the picture. I’ll have to explore that one.

I really like Easter Island. It’s always been scary, mystical and intriguing to me!

I’m looking forward to celebrating this Equinox. As after the celebration of the Summer Solstice, I gained many insights and self knowledge. I’ve already gotten another insight into the spiritual meaning of this Autumn Equinox, and it hasn’t even arrived yet. It’s because I keep knocking.
    Let’s all keep knocking!

  21. I never knew there were so many sites around the world build to celebrate the autumn equinox. Thanks for putting all this together here on this page.

Reading it inspires me and puts the questions, why people made so much effort to build the sites, what is so important and how can I tap into this knowledge which is spoken about in this article?

I’m looking forward to celebrate this event and deepen my understanding.

  22. Thank you very much for this article. It is so amazing to finally learn the true meaning of the Autumn Equinox.

  23. This is an amazing article. Thanks everyone who put it together. So many questions I’d love to have answered about these intriguing sites left by the ancient mystics. Even the mathematics of everything seems so precise, like the descending snake at Chichen Itza. It’s really interesting to ponder upon these people who were more in tune and connected with these cosmic events like David and Dara were saying. I’m really looking forward to celebrating the Equinox around the world with everybody.
